Technical reliability for airtight building envelopes
Modern residential construction utilizes tightly sealed windows and mechanical ventilation systems, which can compromise the air supply of conventional heating appliances. The Schiedel MULTI air-flue system solves this challenge by supplying fresh combustion air directly from above the roof through an annular gap in the chimney shaft, operating completely independent of indoor room air.
- Counter-Flow Air Preheating: Incoming combustion air travels downward through the outer annular gap, absorbing heat from the warm inner ceramic exhaust tube. This counter-flow mechanism reduces thermal loss and enhances system operating efficiency.
- Separated Air & Gas Streams: The intake opening and flue outlet at the chimney head are physically separated by a specialized airflow plate, preventing flue gas recirculation.
- Independent Billing & Control: Enables multi-occupancy of up to four decentralized gas boilers per floor, allowing tenants individual heating control and direct consumption billing.

The system structure
The double-skin MULTI air extraction system is mounted on an AVANT prefabricated base. This contains a ceramic cleaning door connection with inspection cover and pressure equalization opening, as well as the condensate drain. The front end is formed by the foot panel with integrated cleaning door. It is now possible to install a fireplace on each floor. The MULTI is crowned by a chimney head that closes off the ceramic system.
