REV Ocean - The world's largest yacht
Schiedel Norway was selected as a proud supplier for a highly critical phase in the vessel’s life: its significant upgrade and 12-meter extension. This comprehensive rebuild was initiated in close cooperation with the shipyard, Vard, and became necessary after the original construction faced severe technical challenges and stability issues that threatened the full functionality required for its complex research operations. Schiedel was specifically tasked with designing and supplying the complete exhaust system for the vessel's powerful generators. Our mission was not merely to replace components, but to contribute a fundamental solution that would finally allow this world-class research and expedition vessel to meet its stringent performance and structural requirements - and ultimately achieve seaworthiness.

Liverpool Anfield redevelopment
The project focused on the regeneration of Anfield, increasing capacity to 60,000 while preserving its famous atmosphere. As part of this modernization, a 700kVA generator with an acoustic enclosure was installed for backup power. Schiedel supplied the ICS 5000 flue system, a high-spec twin-wall stainless steel solution insulated with superwool, designed to withstand high pressures across the new infrastructure.

Darlington Memorial Hospital
The scope involved a comprehensive exhaust and chimney installation for Darlington Memorial Hospital's new energy center. This facility houses three Cummins Generators, two Byworth Steam Boilers, and a Byworth LPHW Boiler, with future capacity for a CHP unit. Schiedel was commissioned to supply and install all exhaust systems, including a massive 40-meter-high free-standing multicore chimney.

Raigmore Hospital
This extensive three-phase project involved the installation of a comprehensive chimney network to support new biomass and dual-fuel boilers. Phases one and two focused on two 600mm ID biomass boiler systems integrated into an existing concrete chimney. The final phase expanded the facility's capacity with two 300mm dual-fuel boiler flues and an additional 450mm system, ensuring a robust and versatile energy center capable of supporting the hospital’s long-term heating needs.

Royal Liverpool University Hospital
This project centered on the installation of a sophisticated exhaust network for the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The facility relies on heavy-duty Cummins generators to maintain power during emergencies. The scope involved engineering a durable flue system that could handle high-temperature output while integrating into technical service ducts. It was finalized as a key part of the hospital's infrastructure.

Chimney system for Sberbank Data Centre
Sberbank Data Centre was created by the London Architectural Bureau Zaha Hadid Architects. It was founded by British architect Zaha Hadid in 1979. She is the first woman to become the winner of the most prestigious award of the world architectural community – the Pritzker Prize. The architect died at the age of 65 on March 31, 2016 and she was one of the three most influential architects on the planet. Among her works are the National Museum of Arts of the XXI century in Rome, the Water Sports Center in London, the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati and the Guangzhou Opera House.

Data centre generator exhausts in Sydney
The project involved a major datacenter facility in Sydney, Australia, requiring specialized exhaust systems for its emergency power diesel generators. Schiedel’s engineering team was tasked with designing thirty-two individual flues. Each flue featured a 600mm nominal internal diameter and a high-gloss stainless steel finish, specifically designed to run vertically along the building’s exterior.

Exhaust flues for a Zurich Data Centre
The project we were involved in was located in Zurich, a city globally renowned for its elite financial services sector. Beyond banking, it is widely regarded as the primary economic, scientific, and social centre of Switzerland. Supporting this digital hub, Equinix operates five ISO-certified Equinix IBX® data centres, providing world-class infrastructure.

Scottish Southern General Hospital
Supply and installation of 22 stainless steel system chimneys with a supporting mast for the energy centre. The mast and chimneys had to be lowered by crane through an opening in the roof of the building. This meant that the plan needed to come together for the supply and erection of the chimneys on the mast sections, to be delivered to site in full and on time to tie in with the crane hire.

Data Center Hauts-de-France
This project involved the construction and installation of three freestanding chimneys, each around 14 meters high and with a large cross-section. These were supplied and installed by a specialist partner to supply three generators in a large data center in the Hauts-de-France region. The chimneys connected to the units were manufactured using our ICS 5000 system with a cross-section of 400 mm.

Data Centre emergency power in Geleen
As part of this project, Schiedel designed custom planning for a major telecom provider in the Netherlands to integrate a new emergency power generator with noise attenuation into a building with limited space. The client, one of the largest telecom and data providers, opted for a more powerful generator. Schiedel solved the dual challenge of lack of space and strict noise standards with smart engineering and acoustic measures.

The House of Alchemy
Schiedel ran a competition when introducing the GARDEN FIREPLACE concept in the UK market. The competition was launched nationally with designers submitting a concept to show off the GARDEN FIREPLACE in different settings. The project would be recorded from design through assembly to final completion. The best designs submitted would win the prize of the GARDEN FIREPLACE supplied to the site.

Supply and Installation of 6 x Ø500 System Chimneys serving FG Wilson Gen Sets providing back up power to the Hospital. The exhausts needed to run horizontally above the entrance to the hotel before rising vertically to reach the roof of the energy centre, from where a further extended horizontal run was required with support before turning into th e main vertical runs supported from the existing concrete stack.

Hinxton Hall Conference Centre
We supplied and installed five ICS 5000 Ø350 system chimneys to serve the backup generator sets at the Research Centre. A key challenge was to minimize their visual impact on the building's aesthetics. To achieve this, the framework and outer casing of the chimneys were soda blasted, a process that allowed them to blend seamlessly with the surrounding structure, ensuring both functionality and visual harmony with the existing architecture.
