A patio garden transformed by Ali Paterson – A Garden Fireplace project.

This was a small garden in Fulham which architect and garden designer AliPaterson RIBA MSGD was asked to make over. This was a typical small London patio garden with an expanse of bland paving and very narrow planting beds to the perimeter. The planting beds were enlarged with a pair of stone benches/table tops in the centre of the patio to male seating or drinks tables: these define the patio subtly into a dining area and a seating area. king area.

This was complimented with the creation of the fireplace/BBQ at the rear of the garden. This makes striking focal point when seen from the house and creates a very hands-on outdoor kitchen cooking area. The fireplace alternatively just gives warmth and cosiness on cool evenings. This was an off-the-peg fireplace from the Isokern range by Schiedel which comes in various sizes, small enough to fit the smallest garden.

The natural pumice gives this outdoor fireplace all the insulation needed to have a safe and spectacular focal point of any garden. The relatively small footprint also means that this can be placed against any wall in even the tiniest of gardens or yards. Garden 500 model comes with a log retainer and barbecue grill (additional Log Store available as extra) which allows the Garden Fireplace to double up as a stunning BBQ. There is also an additional log store available for the 500 model which can be placed on either side of the fireplace.

A natural fireplace to use all year round.
